This fly comes from my recent visit to Sweden to fish the Morrum. The Scandinavian salmon fishermen do seem to excel in challenging conditions, such as low water and bright sunshine. This tiny Monkey pattern is one of the approaches they use. It is tied on a very small 8mm copper tube - the copper takes it just sub surface when fished on a floating line. Try it on a long (12 feet or more) light leader.
Tube length 8mm. Length from nose of fly to furthest tip of wing = 50mm. (if you think that sounds big it's about the same as a size 12 Fulling Mill Ally's Shrimp)
